You need an advocate in Olympia
You need someone in Olympia who can be a strong advocate for you on Day One. I was elected in 1994 to serve our communities in the 31st District and retired after four years to continue to serve in law enforcement. I know how Olympia works; I know how to get things done — I’ve done it before for you.
I have the experience and proven leadership we need to get you the results you deserve.
Our rights are being eroded
This pandemic showcased just how much power the executive branch of state government should and shouldn’t have. While immediate action by the governor was necessary to “flatten the curve” of infection to ensure our hospitals would not be overrun, that goal was achieved, and the governor continues to curb our rights and hurt our economy.
The Governor’s misunderstands the success of his “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order. The people of Washington did not stay home because he told them to, people stopped going out because they were scared and knew the risk of infection and transmission was high because businesses like Amazon and Microsoft took the lead in sending their employees to work from home. We did not stay home because of orders from Jay Inslee.
The government only has the power over us that we consent to and Governor Inslee is losing that consent more and more every day. People are hurting, small businesses are permanently closing all around us, and our children are not being provided the education they were promised in our state constitution.
The Governor must stop testing the patience of our communities and announce measures to more quickly allow people to provide for their families. We know the physical distancing guidelines, let the owners conform their businesses plans to meet them and open up those that are able – getting folks back to work and providing for their families!
As your representative, I will fight to rein in the power of the executive branch during an emergency. Our country and state are not designed, and the people are not equipped, to be governed by draconian emergency proclamations from a single person. It’s time the governor brings in the elected representatives of the people to help craft a long-term response to this pandemic – a response which balances both public health and economic vitality while protecting your rights.
Sex education mandate
The sex education mandate passed in the dark of night in Olympia is unacceptable to me. Tens-of-thousands of concerned parents descended on Olympia to tell their representatives that they did not want an obscene, state-mandated sex education curriculum that robs our young students of their innocence.
I support Referendum 90 to give parents their rights back. We need to restore the power of choosing this curriculum to the parents and locally-elected school boards, where it belongs. We cannot rely on unelected bureaucrats to decide the right course for our children on such a personal topic.
Defending your Second Amendment rights
Every year Seattle liberals introduce legislation to chip away at your Second Amendment rights. You deserve a representative who will stand up to these efforts and defend your rights. I have a long history of supporting the Second Amendment, and protecting it in Olympia.
As a law enforcement professional, I know the difference between a law-abiding citizen and a criminal. These regulations passed by Olympia politicians always target law-abiding citizens, never criminals. These same politicians never seem to be too upset when prosecutors fail to hold perpetrators of gun crimes accountable.
People who want to take away these rights from you demand “common-sense” gun laws, but I don’t think the laws they propose contain an ounce of common-sense.
Protecting our Future
Your rights are being proactively taken away by Olympia politicians, which many people talk about. But, often left unsaid are the rights being taken through inaction.
I’m talking about your right be safe, to go to our parks or walk through the street without being accosted by a homeless person or stepping over used needles. Our elected leaders and the bureaucrats they select have completely failed to improve the societal problems, which have only gotten worse as they have wasted billions of dollars on ineffective programs run by campaign supporters.
I have ‘boots on the ground’ experience with my career in law enforcement. We need leaders in Olympia who will take action on critical issues like this. I will work to actually solve this problem.
